Souleio foods cares about what they feed you. If you crave that farmer’s market freshness that comes along with carefully selected ingredients in a dish, you should be eating here. Being just far south enough on 3rd avenue to be off most people’s radar, this bistro gives that ‘how did I miss this place?’ feeling. In a beautiful building with large, bright windows to let the sun stream in, enjoying lunch here really is quite a treat.

Most restaurants seem to believe that all that could have been done in the area of grilled cheese construction has been done. Souleio is not content with the status quo. These people are doing new, exciting, and frankly terrifying things in the area of melted cheese and bread combinations. You may not be able to pick it out in the pictures above, but not only do those sandwiches have melted cheese on the outside of the bread, tiny slivers of pickles are pressed beneath that crispy layer of cheddar. Pickles on the outside of the sandwich. Astonishing. Anyway, the rest of the food is also fantastic. Everything seems fresh and made with care. If the stress from work is ever getting to you, consider this as a spot to come and unwind with a great coffee and delicious bit of baking. Maybe read a book for a while, or peruse their deli and wine offerings in the back. Enjoy a nice little getaway from the bustling pace of downtown.
